Understanding BSA/AML: The Basics
Kevin Gulledge is a Senior Risk Management Consultant with Abrigo and has over a decade of experience in the retail banking industry. He worked with mid-sized and large international institutions in a variety of roles, including retail, operations, compliance and BSA/AML. He has been in his current role as consultant and educator since 2014, where he has worked with domestic and international institutions on functionality and best BSA/AML practices, as well as calibrated and analyzed risk-based systems and consulted and worked with BSA Officers and Regulators on internal and external projects, including staffing assessments, suspicious activity monitoring program reviews, data validation reviews, procedure drafting, staff augmentation, risk assessments and more. Kevin is a Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS) and a member of the national and local chapters of the Association of Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialists (ACAMS).
In this session, we will explore the basics of the Bank Secrecy Act and learn how Anti-Money Laundering regulations impact day to day operations. We will discuss FinCEN’s role in the AML community and we will learn the different pillars of a strong BSA/AML compliance program. You will learn the different stages of money laundering and how financial service businesses can implement policies and procedures to help curb money laundering and other financial crimes. We will also discuss regulatory reporting, the USA PATRIOT Act and more.
