Why Should You Attend
This session offers tools to facilitate conversations with project sponsors to clarify which decisions they are reserving for themselves and which are delegated to the project manager.
It also introduces a tool to help tease out sponsor priorities that will support decision-making.
Attending this session will help you clarify roles and responsibilities on your projects and provide insights for you and others involved in the project.
Topic Background
The project has been defined. The desired scope is understood and documented. Schedule goals have been established. The budget is known. The team has been assigned. Does this mean that the project can be completed successfully within these parameters? Of course not - these represent targets.
In the day-to-day of project life, Project Managers juggle priorities of scope, schedule, and resources, but what happens if “something MUST give”? What is the decision-making process if the project must either be delayed for a month or have a key feature delayed to the next release? Who should make that decision?
The “correct” answers to these questions vary from one organization to the next, but it is imperative that the project manager and project sponsors are on the same page about the answers.
